I joined a fun group of bloggers in doing a Surprise Recipe Swap every month! We’re each assigned a different blog to choose a recipe from, make it, and share it on the 20th of every month. I’m excited to participate in this group every month!

For my first month I was assigned to choose a recipe from Sheena over at Hot Eats and Cool Reads. Let me tell you, this was a tough decision! My eyes landed on this recipe for Crock Pot Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork Sandwiches. Pulled pork sandwiches remind me of summer barbecues and fun. And I love my crock pot! This was a winning recipe for me.
I love the way this meat turned out. The flavor is awesome! The mustard gives it that little kick that makes it so good. You could always use your favorite barbecue sauce instead of the recipe for the sauce, but this sauce is WAY better than anything you’ll find in the stores. And I had everything in my pantry already! Yummy yummy.
I made a couple adjustments as far as the cook time and temperature go, but other than that the recipe is the same. Go check out Hot Eats and Cool Reads for more fantastic recipes!

Crock Pot Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. pork roast
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can Dr. Pepper
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 1/2 c. ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 8 to 10 kaiser rolls or your favorite bun or roll

Instructions

  • Salt and pepper the roast well. Place in the crock pot with the onions and garlic.
  • Pour Dr. Pepper over the roast. Cook on high 4-5 hours, or until tender enough to shred.
  • Remove from the crock pot and shred. Pour out most of the liquid from the crock pot so there's just a little on the bottom.
  • Combine ketchup, mustard, honey, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and garlic powder to make the sauce. Combine with shredded pork and place back in the crock pot.
  • Cook on low for 45 minutes to an hour, or until completely heated through. Serve on your favorite bun or roll.
**I threw away the onions after the roast cooked. We don’t like to eat onions like that, but the flavor it brings to the roast in the cooking process is awesome!**

Love pulled pork! I’ve tried a few, but none with Dr. Pepper, so I’m thinking I need to make this one. ๐Ÿ™‚

How much do you find this makes- serving wise? I am looking at this recipe for a crowd of 60-70 adults and kids. Thank you! This recipe looks so delicious!
