Beef or pork ribs are cooked low and slow to perfection with Dr Pepper and a few other common pantry ingredients. These ribs are great for game day!
Football season is here and we couldn’t be more excited! When we moved last year, we moved to an area where the majority loves our favorite college team. And we’re onto our second year of college football watching parties with great friends we’ve made!
We’re one of a kind with our football parties because we don’t like to use utensils. We’re all about easy finger foods at these viewing parties. Meatballs, chips and salsa, wings, sliders…if you can eat it with your hands, it’s most likely present at our parties. My husband pointed out to me recently that we’ve never served ribs at one of our parties. We make them at home, but we’ve never shared them with our friends. We made Crock Pot Dr Pepper Ribs and can’t wait to share it with our friends. They’re finger-lickin’ good!
We went to Target and picked up a 12-pack of 12oz Dr Pepper cans. This recipe only uses one can, but we’re all about serving Dr Pepper at our parties! You’ll want to pick up a 1.5-2 lb package of beef or pork ribs while you’re at Target.
The package we purchased had five large boneless beef ribs. For serving at a party, we plan to cut the ribs into smaller strips or into chunks to serve on a toothpick. Perfect appetizer!
Make the rub and pat it all over each rib. This rub adds so much great flavor. Place the ribs in the crock pot and pour Dr Pepper right over top. In four hours you’ve got yourself a perfect party appetizer! And they’re crazy good. That rub combined with Dr Pepper is fabulous.
After four hours of slow cooking, you’ll want to remove the liquid and add your favorite barbecue sauce. Stir them up and prepare them the way you would like to serve them. Slice them smaller, cut into chunks, or eat them as is. So good!
The Dr Pepper helps give the meat not only an amazing flavor, but a perfectly tender texture. These ribs will melt in your mouth.
