Banana Bars

If you like banana bread, you're going to love these Banana Bars! They're perfectly cakey and topped with a decadent cream cheese frosting.

Banana Bars

  • 1/2 c butter or margarine softened
  • 1 1/2 c sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 medium ripe bananas mashed

Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 c butter softened
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 4 c powdered sugar


  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F. Prepare the bars by creaming together butter and sugar. Add eggs, sour cream, and vanilla.

  2. Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter and sugar mixture; stir in the bananas.

  3. Spread into a greased jelly roll pan (15"x10"x1") and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Allow to cool completely before frosting.

  4. Beat together cream cheese, butter, and vanilla in a mixing bowl. Add powdered sugar a 1/2 cup at a time. Frost the bars and store covered in the fridge. Enjoy!
